Target Information

The von Willebrand factor A domain-containing protein 1 enhances matrix assembly and is essential for the organization of skeletal muscles and the formation of neuromuscular junctions. In mice, the expression of VWA1 protein is carefully regulated, with limited expression in certain tissues like the spinal cord and peripheral nerves. As part of the extracellular matrix (ECM), VWA1 may contribute to ECM assembly and stability. In liver disease models, VWA1 expression levels increase, suggesting involvement in liver damage or repair processes. In conditions like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), VWA1 expression is upregulated, indicating a potential role in liver fibrosis or damage.
