Target Information
The up-regulator of cell proliferation (URGCP) may play a role in cell cycle progression by regulating cyclin D1 expression. Research indicates that URGCP significantly enhances the invasion and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells in mice by activating the NF-κB-MMP-9 signaling pathway. Mice with URGCP overexpression exhibit more complex tumor tissue structures and a significant increase in tumor metastases, whereas knocking down URGCP markedly inhibits the invasion and metastasis of tumor cells. In liver cancer cells, URGCP activates the NF-κB signaling pathway and upregulates vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression, thereby promoting angiogenesis. This mechanism is also validated in mouse models, where URGCP overexpression significantly boosts tumor angiogenesis.
