Target Information
Cytochrome b-c1 complex subunit 2, mitochondrial, is a component of the ubiquinol-cytochrome c oxidoreductase. This multisubunit transmembrane complex is part of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, which drives oxidative phosphorylation. UQCRC2 plays a significant role in tumorigenesis. Research has demonstrated that knocking out the UQCRC2 gene in mice (UQCRC2 knockout mice) can markedly inhibit tumor growth. For instance, experiments with nude mice revealed that the tumor volume in mice subjected to UQCRC2 knockout was significantly reduced compared to the control group. Additionally, the Ki67 index, a marker of cell proliferation, was also substantially decreased, indicating that the loss of UQCRC2 can inhibit tumor cell proliferation.
