Target Information

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is a cytokine that interacts with TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR receptors. Primarily secreted by macrophages, TNF can induce cell death in certain tumor cell lines. It acts as a potent pyrogen, causing fever either directly or by stimulating the secretion of interleukin-1, and is involved in the induction of cachexia. Under specific conditions, TNF can also promote cell proliferation and induce cell differentiation. In mice, TNF's functions are extensive and complex, encompassing immune regulation, inflammatory responses, tumor suppression, intestinal barrier function, and bone metabolism.
