Target Information

Tropomodulin-3 inhibits both the elongation and depolymerization of actin filaments at their pointed ends. The Tmod/TM complex is integral to forming short actin protofilaments, which in turn define the geometry of the membrane skeleton. Tmod3 is crucial for the asymmetric division of mouse oocytes, as it preserves the integrity of the cytoplasmic actin network by binding to actin filaments. This support is essential for spindle migration and oocyte maturation. When Tmod3 is knocked down, it results in a weakened cytoplasmic actin network, inhibited spindle migration, and impaired asymmetric division.
