Target Information

T-lymphocyte activation antigen CD80 is a costimulatory molecule part of the immunoglobulin superfamily, playing a critical role in T-lymphocyte activation. It serves as the main auxiliary signal that enhances the MHC/TCR signal in naive T-cells, working in conjunction with the CD28 receptor, which is consistently present on the T-cell surface. In mice, the Cd80 gene encodes it. In mouse models, the expression of CD80 is very important on antigen presenting cells (APCs). APCs express CD80 and bind to CD28 on the surface of T cells, thereby transmitting co-stimulatory signals and promoting T cell activation.
