Target Information
Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 4 (S1PR4) acts as a receptor for the lysosphingolipid sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P), a bioactive lysophospholipid that has wide-ranging physiological effects on many cell types and tissues. It may be specifically involved in the cell migration processes of lymphocytes. In mice, S1PR4 is primarily expressed in immune cells, including neutrophils, lymphocytes, and macrophages. Research has demonstrated that S1PR4 influences the expansion of lymph nodes and the formation of germinal centers by regulating neutrophil migration and activation. In asthma models, the absence of S1PR4 exacerbates the neutrophilic inflammatory response. Studies show that S1PR4-deficient mice experience more severe infiltration of inflammatory cells, particularly neutrophils and macrophages, during OVA/LPS-induced lung inflammation.
