Target Information

Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 2 (S1PR2) is a receptor for the lysosphingolipid sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P), a bioactive lysophospholipid that exerts diverse physiological effects on a variety of cells and tissues. In mice, the functions of S1PR2 span multiple systems and physiological processes, including liver metabolism, intestinal barrier maintenance, neural function, immune regulation, and angiogenesis. S1PR2 plays a role in regulating bile acid-induced hepatic lipid metabolism by activating the ERK1/2 and AKT signaling pathways in the liver. Research has shown that S1PR2 activation can elevate nuclear levels of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), thereby inhibiting histone deacetylase HDAC activity, leading to increased histone acetylation and upregulation of genes associated with lipid metabolism.
