Target Information

Diamine acetyltransferase 1 is an enzyme responsible for catalyzing the acetylation of polyamines. This incredibly regulated enzyme enables precise control of polyamine concentrations within cells and plays a role in regulating their transport out of cells. In mice, knocking out or inhibiting the Sat1 gene has been utilized to study the enzyme's impact on metabolism and disease. For instance, Sat1 knockout mice have exhibited phenotypic changes associated with polyamine metabolism, such as altered fat metabolism, in certain studies. Furthermore, Sat1 activity in the mouse liver has been linked to diet-induced metabolic syndrome, suggesting it may influence metabolic health by modulating polyamine metabolism.
