Target Information

Mouse serum amyloid P-component (SAP) is an acute phase response protein with a variety of biological functions. These proteins are rapidly produced during inflammation and infection, contributing to immune response and tissue repair. For instance, SAP expression is regulated by IL-6 and IL-1β through their interaction with STAT3 and C/EBPβ. In mouse models, SAP exhibits anti-inflammatory effects; research has demonstrated that SAP can inhibit lung inflammation and damage induced by single-stranded RNA. The application of SAP in disease models suggests its potential therapeutic value; for example, in a mouse model of systemic amyloidosis, amyloid deposits can be effectively cleared using antibodies directed against SAP.
