Target Information

Semaphorin-3F (Sema3F) is a secreted axon guidance molecule that influences axon guidance and synapse formation in neurons by binding to neuropeptide receptor 2 (Np2). Research has demonstrated that Sema3F is pivotal for the development of the mouse cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex, particularly in forming specific neuronal circuits, such as vestibular neurons in the prefrontal cortex and the medial septum of the hippocampus. Mice lacking Sema3F exhibit impaired neuronal connectivity and synaptic transmission, resulting in abnormal neural circuits. Additionally, Sema3F plays a role in the amygdala's development, impacting emotional and behavioral regulation.
