Target Information

Secretin is a hormone that plays a role in various processes, including regulating the pH of duodenal content, food intake, and water homeostasis. It exerts its biological effects by binding to the secretin receptor (SCTR), a G-protein coupled receptor located in the basolateral domain of various cells. Gastrin serves multiple functions in mice, such as regulating pancreatic secretion, influencing food intake, contributing to behavior and movement regulation, enhancing neuronal activity, and potentially being involved in placental development. In the mouse brain, gastrin mainly impacts behavior and movement. Research has shown that gastrin influences motor behavior through specific receptors, leading to reduced interactions with new objects and decreased activity in open field tests.
