Target Information

Soluble frizzled-related proteins (sFRPs) act as modulators of Wnt signaling by directly interacting with Wnts, influencing cell growth and differentiation across various cell types. SFRP2 is particularly significant in retinal development of the eye and myogenesis. In mice, sFRP2 has extensive and complex roles, including involvement in angiogenesis, myocardial fibrosis, skeletal stem cell function, tumorigenesis, and inflammatory responses. Additionally, sFRP2 is crucial for the function of skeletal stem cells in adult mice. Research indicates that a deficiency in sFRP2 reduces skeletal stem cell functionality, leading to diminished bone regeneration capacity.
