Target Information
In mice, secondary lymphoid tissue chemokine (SLC) primarily functions by regulating lymphocyte recruitment, localization, and immune response. SLC, a high-affinity CC chemokine, plays a crucial role by interacting with its receptor, CC chemokine receptor 7 (CCR7). In mice lacking the SLC gene, lymphocytes fail to effectively migrate to secondary lymphoid tissues, leading to abnormal lymphoid tissue development. This indicates that SLC is essential for lymphocyte homing and the formation of lymphoid tissues. While SLC shares the CCR7 receptor with other chemokines such as ELC and CCL19, its specific expression pattern and function make it uniquely important for the formation and maintenance of lymphoid tissues.
