Mouse S100 Calcium Binding Protein A8 (S100A8) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

S100A8 is a protein that binds to calcium and zinc, playing a key role in regulating inflammatory processes and immune responses. It can induce chemotaxis and adhesion in neutrophils. S100A8 is predominantly found as part of calprotectin (S100A8/A9), which has a variety of intra- and extracellular functions. Intracellularly, it helps facilitate leukocyte trafficking and metabolism of arachidonic acid, modulates the tubulin-dependent cytoskeleton during phagocyte migration, and activates neutrophilic NADPH-oxidase. It also participates in the differentiation of regulatory T-cells alongside CD69. In mice, S100A8 is involved in numerous biological processes and pathological conditions, such as inflammatory responses, immune regulation, tumor progression, bone metabolism, neurodegenerative diseases, and cardiovascular diseases. In mouse models of colon and thyroid cancer, S100A8 expression is closely associated with tumor invasiveness and metastasis.
