Target Information

The ribonucleoside-diphosphate reductase large subunit is crucial for providing the precursors necessary for DNA synthesis, catalyzing the conversion of ribonucleotides into deoxyribonucleotides. Research indicates that the expression level of Rrm1 is closely linked to the ability to repair DNA damage. For instance, in a mouse model of lung cancer, overexpression of Rrm1 significantly enhanced DNA damage repair and inhibited tumor formation. In mice, Rrm1 expression levels vary across different tissues; in skeletal muscle, its overexpression is primarily localized to that tissue. Additionally, high Rrm1 expression is associated with changes in mitochondrial DNA copy numbers, although this change is not significant.
