Mouse Regenerating Islet Derived Protein 3 Gamma (REG3g) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Regenerating islet-derived protein 3-gamma (Reg3g) is a bactericidal C-type lectin that specifically targets Gram-positive bacteria. It mediates bacterial killing by binding to the carbohydrate moieties exposed on the surface of peptidoglycan. Reg3g plays a crucial role in limiting bacterial colonization on the intestinal epithelial surface, thus restricting activation of adaptive immune responses by the microbiota. By directly inhibiting the growth of Gram-positive bacteria through peptidoglycan binding, Reg3g protects the intestine from infections. In mouse studies, Reg3g significantly reduced the colonization of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, but showed a weaker inhibitory effect on Escherichia coli. Moreover, Reg3g helps reduce bacterial translocation and related inflammation in alcoholic liver disease by maintaining intestinal barrier function and preventing bacteria and their toxins from entering the bloodstream.
