Target Information
In mice, REG1b (regenerative island protein 1 beta) primarily functions in inflammation, intestinal repair, and pancreatic regeneration. It is a key protein involved in pancreatic regeneration, particularly during the early stages of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). REG1b expression significantly increases in experimental models of inflammatory bowel diseases in mice, such as ulcerative colitis and acute amoebic colitis. For instance, during experimental necrotizing colitis (NEC), REG1b expression rises, promoting the regeneration of intestinal crypts. In acute amoebic colitis, its expression is markedly increased, potentially safeguarding intestinal epithelial cells by inhibiting apoptosis.
