Target Information
The high-affinity immunoglobulin epsilon receptor subunit alpha serves as a high-affinity receptor for immunoglobulin epsilon (IgE). It is responsible for mediating IgE effector functions within myeloid cells. When IgE binds and antigens or allergens cross-link, it triggers signaling pathways that lead to the activation and differentiation of myeloid cells. In mast cells, basophils, and eosinophils, it promotes the secretion of vasoactive amines, lipid mediators, and cytokines, which play roles in the inflammatory response, tissue remodeling, and microbial cytotoxicity. FceRI, the receptor, can be expressed on the surface of mouse mast cells, where IgE binding can initiate a series of inflammatory responses. Specifically, IgE interaction with FceRI on these cells induces the release of pro-inflammatory mediators.
