Target Information
DNA repair protein RAD51 homolog 1 is essential for homologous strand exchange, a crucial step in DNA repair via homologous recombination (HR). It binds to single-stranded DNA in an ATP-dependent manner, forming nucleoprotein filaments that are vital for the homology search and strand exchange. In mice, this protein is encoded by the Rad51 gene. The RAD51 gene has many important functions in mice, including embryonic development, homologous recombination repair, cancer occurrence, radiation sensitivity, and possible gene regulation effects. Loss or dysregulation of these functions may lead to embryonic lethality, cell proliferation disorders, chromosomal instability, and the occurrence and development of cancer.
