Target Information

Sulfhydryl oxidase 1 facilitates the oxidation of sulfhydryl groups in peptide and protein thiols into disulfides while converting oxygen into hydrogen peroxide. This enzyme is crucial for forming disulfide bonds in a variety of extracellular proteins. QSOX1, a potent oxidase, primarily regulates mucin polymerization by catalyzing disulfide bond formation. In mice, a deficiency in QSOX1 results in compromised intestinal mucosal barrier function, characterized by decreased mucin secretion and disrupted intestinal flora balance. Notably, QSOX1-deficient mice are more susceptible to dextran sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis, exhibiting more severe symptoms such as shortened bowel and intensified colitis.

Target/Biomarker Mouse QSOX1
