Mouse Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Kinase Isoform 1 (PDK1) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Pdk1 is a kinase essential for regulating glucose and fatty acid metabolism and maintaining homeostasis by phosphorylating the pyruvate dehydrogenase subunits PDHA1 and PDHA2. This phosphorylation inhibits pyruvate dehydrogenase activity, thereby modulating metabolite flow through the tricarboxylic acid cycle, reducing aerobic respiration, and preventing the conversion of pyruvate into acetyl-coenzyme A. PDK1 is vital for mouse embryonic development. Research indicates that the absence of PDK1 results in embryonic death by embryonic day 9.5, accompanied by various abnormalities, including the absence of the trunk, forebrain, and neural crest-derived tissues, although hindbrain and midbrain development remains relatively normal. Conversely, mice with low PDK1 expression are viable and fertile but exhibit a significant reduction in body weight and organ volume (40-50%), highlighting that PDK1's role in regulating cell size is independent of cell number or proliferation.
