Target Information
cGMP-dependent protein kinase 2 is a vital regulator of intestinal secretion and bone growth. It phosphorylates and activates CFTR on the plasma membrane, playing a key role in intestinal secretion through the cGMP-dependent translocation of CFTR in the jejunum. PRKG2 is also essential for bone development. Studies have demonstrated that PRKG2 deficiency leads to dwarfism in mice, due to abnormal proliferation and differentiation of growth plate chondrocytes. PRKG2 supports normal bone development by regulating these processes in growth plate chondrocytes. Mice lacking PRKG2 exhibit excessive proliferation and disordered differentiation of growth plate chondrocytes, resulting in skeletal retardation and dwarfism.
