Target Information

RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase, commonly known as Akt1, is one of three closely related serine/threonine-protein kinases in the AKT kinase family, alongside AKT2 and AKT3, that regulate numerous processes, including metabolism, proliferation, cell survival, growth, and angiogenesis. Knockout mice lacking Akt1 displayed growth retardation and weight loss, underscoring the pivotal role of Akt1 in mouse growth and development. Additionally, Akt1-deficient mice exhibited significant bone development defects, such as reduced bone density, decreased trabecular thickness, and lower fracture resistance.
