Target Information

Protein disulfide-isomerase A2 functions as an intracellular estrogen-binding protein and may contribute to regulating estrogen levels and their biological functions in the pancreas. It is also thought to act as a chaperone, preventing the aggregation of misfolded proteins. In mouse models, PDI is recognized for its significant role in thrombosis. Research has revealed that PDI contributes to thrombosis by facilitating the folding and polymerization of fibrinogen. For instance, in mouse models, the absence or inhibition of PDI led to a notable reduction in platelet aggregation and fibrin production.
