Target Information

Poly [ADP-ribose] polymerase 1 is an enzyme known as a poly-ADP-ribosyltransferase that facilitates the poly-ADP-ribosylation of proteins, playing a crucial role in DNA repair processes. In mice, Poly(ADP-ribose) Polymerase (PARP) serves as a vital DNA repair enzyme whose primary role is to detect and repair DNA strand breaks. Beyond its DNA repair function, PARP is involved in various other biological processes. For instance, PARP-1 functions as a coactivator in the NF-κB signaling pathway, contributing to inflammatory responses. Additionally, in mice, PARP is involved in chromatin remodeling and spermatogenesis. Specifically, PARP1 and PARP2 facilitate chromosome condensation during spermatogenesis in mice by regulating the function of topoisomerase IIβ (TOP2B).
