Target Information
Piezo-type mechanosensitive ion channel component 1 serves as a pore-forming subunit of the mechanosensitive non-specific cation Piezo channel. This channel generates currents with a linear current-voltage relationship and is sensitive to ruthenium red and gadolinium. Research has demonstrated that PIEZO1 plays a role in transducing mechanical itch in mice. PIEZO-1 has a wide range of functions in mice, involving various aspects of vascular development, pulmonary high stress response, blood pressure regulation, neuronal differentiation, and extracellular matrix perception. It plays a key role as a mechanoreceptor in a variety of physiological and pathological processes, and is particularly important in signaling and cell behavior regulation in response to mechanical force stimuli.
