Target Information
Phospholipase A2, Lipoprotein Associated, also known as Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase, is a calcium-independent enzyme linked to lipoproteins and plays a role in phospholipid catabolism during inflammatory and oxidative stress responses. It operates at the lipid-aqueous interface, hydrolyzing the ester bond of the fatty acyl group at the sn-2 position of phospholipids. In mice, PLA2G7 functions in inflammation, immune regulation, metabolism, cardiovascular disease, tumor development, and stem cell differentiation. In atherosclerosis models, inhibiting PLA2G7 can decrease the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. In mice subjected to obesity and a high-fat diet, PLA2G7 expression levels rise, whereas restrictive calorie intake can decrease its expression.
