Target Information

Group 3 secretory phospholipase A2 is a calcium-dependent enzyme that primarily targets extracellular phospholipids, hydrolyzing the ester bond of the fatty acyl group at the sn-2 position without specific head group selectivity. PLA2G3 is extensively expressed in mice, particularly in inflammation-related tissues such as the skin, lungs, and intestines. Research indicates that PLA2G3 promotes the formation of macrophage foam cells by hydrolyzing phosphatidylcholine (PC), thereby worsening atherosclerosis. Additionally, in the skin, overexpression of PLA2G3 results in skin inflammation, characterized by dermatitis, pustules, keratinization of hair follicles, and eosinophil infiltration.
