Mouse Peroxiredoxin 6 (PRDX6) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Peroxiredoxin-6 is a thiol-specific peroxidase responsible for reducing hydrogen peroxide and organic hydroperoxides to water and alcohols, respectively. As a key antioxidant enzyme, PRDX6 eliminates intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), peroxynitrite, and lipid peroxides, thereby helping maintain cellular redox balance. Mice deficient in PRDX6 (PRDX6−/−) are more susceptible to oxidative stress; for instance, their survival rates drop significantly and tissue damage is more severe when exposed to oxidants like paraquat or hydroquinone. In models of liver ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury, the absence of PRDX6 results in mitochondrial dysfunction and worsened liver damage, whereas PRDX6 overexpression can mitigate these injuries.
