Target Information

Peripheral myelin protein 22 (PMP22) is believed to play a role in growth regulation and the myelination process within the peripheral nervous system. In mice, PMP22 is involved in critical functions such as myelination, intercellular communication, signal transduction, and cellular biological properties. As one of the primary components of the myelin sheath in the peripheral nervous system, PMP22 is particularly abundant in the compact regions of the sheath. Research indicates that PMP22 expression is closely linked to the formation and maturation of myelin, especially during the differentiation of Schwann cells into mature myelin-producing cells.
