Mouse Perilipin 1 (PLIN1) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Perilipin-1 is a key regulator of lipid metabolism in adipocytes. It forms a protective coating around lipid storage droplets, shielding them from degradation by hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL). Its absence can lead to a lean phenotype. Perilipin-1 contributes to the formation of unilocular lipid droplets by activating CIDEC, with their interaction promoting lipid droplet enlargement and directional net neutral lipid transfer. It may also influence lipolysis and triglyceride levels. In obese mouse models, Perilipin-1 expression is often reduced, correlating with triglyceride accumulation and decreased lipolysis in adipose tissue. For instance, in Perilipin-1 knockout mice, although adipocytes exhibit high basal lipolysis activity, their adipose tissue function is compromised, resulting in abnormal fatty acid transport and oxidation, which ultimately triggers cardiac hypertrophy and myocardial damage.
