Target Information
Peptidylprolyl Isomerase A catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides. It has a significant chemotactic effect on leukocytes, partly by activating the membrane receptor BSG/CD147, which triggers a signaling cascade culminating in MAPK/ERK activation. In mice, peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase A (PPIase A) is primarily involved in protein folding, signal transduction, and immune regulation. In Alzheimer's disease, dysregulation of PPIase A influences the phosphorylation of tau and amyloid precursor protein (APP), affecting their functions and thereby worsening neurodegenerative lesions.
