Mouse Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Paraoxonase 1 is an enzyme that hydrolyzes the toxic metabolites of various organophosphorus insecticides. It can hydrolyze a wide range of organophosphate substrates and lactones, as well as several aromatic carboxylic acid esters. PON1 provides enzymatic protection of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) against oxidative modification. In mouse models, PON1 exhibits an anti-atherosclerotic role primarily through its antioxidant properties, regulation of cholesterol metabolism, and protection of HDL function, making it a potential target for treating cardiovascular diseases. PON1 activity is inversely related to the development of atherosclerosis. In mouse models, mice with a PON1 gene knockout (PON1KO) or functional loss exhibit larger atherosclerotic lesion areas and more severe lipid peroxidation.
