Target Information
Nuclear pore glycoprotein p62 is a crucial component of the nuclear pore complex. Its N-terminal likely plays a role in nucleocytoplasmic transport, while the C-terminal is involved in protein-protein interactions, potentially through coiled-coil formation. This promotes its association with centrosomes and may help anchor p62 to the pore complex. It is important for mitotic cell cycle progression by regulating centrosome segregation, centriole maturation, and spindle orientation. In mice, it is encoded by the Nup62 gene. Nup62 has a wide range of functions in mice, covering multiple biological processes such as nucleoplasmic transport, cell division, neurodegenerative diseases, viral infections, and cancer.
