Target Information
The sodium-dependent noradrenaline transporter, also known as the norepinephrine transporter (NET), in mice operates in a manner similar to its human version. It is primarily responsible for the reuptake of norepinephrine through the combined action of sodium ion gradients and chloride ions. Dysfunction in NET is linked to various health conditions, including hypertension, depression, and other neurological disorders. Studies indicate that changes in NET activity can cause abnormal norepinephrine levels, which affect blood pressure regulation and mood. In mice, NET plays a role in regulating norepinephrine concentration in the synaptic cleft, thereby influencing neurotransmission and behavioral responses.
