Target Information

NACHT, LRR, and PYD domains-containing protein 3 is a sensor component of the NLRP3 inflammasome, responsible for activating the inflammasome in response to membrane integrity defects, which leads to the secretion of inflammatory cytokines IL1B and IL18, as well as pyroptosis. NLRP3 plays a negative regulatory role in colitis-associated cancer (CAC). Research indicates that mice lacking NLRP3 exhibit a significantly higher incidence of colitis and CAC, with a notable increase in both the number and size of tumors, along with reduced levels of inflammatory factors IL-1β and IL-18. These findings suggest that NLRP3 protects mice against CAC by inhibiting inflammatory responses.
