Target Information

Pro-FMRFamide-related neuropeptide FF belongs to the family of morphine-modulating peptides and exerts a variety of physiological effects. These include modulating morphine-induced analgesia, increasing arterial blood pressure, and enhancing somatostatin secretion from the pancreas. Neuropeptide FF enhances and sensitizes ASIC1 and ASIC3 channels. In mice, NPFF and its receptors play multiple roles, including regulation of pain, anxiety behaviors, repetitive behavior reduction, fluid intake, energy metabolism, and immune system functions. Mice lacking NPFF display reduced anxiety-related behaviors in tests such as the open field and self-grooming tests.
