Target Information

N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) is a lysosomal enzyme commonly used to evaluate kidney function and damage. Elevated levels of NAG in urine are indicative of impaired tubular function or increased apoptosis and are observed in conditions such as diabetes, tubulointerstitial diseases, and renal transplant rejection. Furthermore, variations in NAG levels are closely associated with the progression of diabetes-related nephropathy. Measuring NAG activity in urine offers a simple, rapid, and non-invasive method for detecting and monitoring various kidney diseases. Beyond its role in protein degradation, NAG may also contribute to metabolic regulation.

Target/Biomarker Mouse NAGase
Target Synonym MGEA5; MEA5; NCOAT; Hexosaminidase C; N-Acetylhexosaminidase; Hyaluronidase; Meningioma-Expressed Antigen 5; Nuclear Cytoplasmic O-GlcNAcase And Acetyltransferase
