Target Information
Mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule 1 (MadCAM1) is a cell adhesion receptor for leukocytes, expressed by mucosal venules to guide lymphocyte migration into mucosal tissues, including Peyer patches and the intestinal lamina propria. It binds to both integrin alpha-4/beta-7 and L-selectin, regulating leukocyte passage and retention. In mice, MadCAM1 plays a crucial role in maintaining the intestinal immune barrier, facilitating T cell homing, regulating chronic inflammation, and modulating the tumor microenvironment. It is especially vital in the intestinal mucosal barrier and immune response, promoting the homing of intestinal lymphocytes by binding to α4β7 integrin and thereby maintaining intestinal homeostasis. MadCAM1's expression level is closely linked to intestinal inflammation; for instance, its expression is significantly increased in infectious enteritis, possibly due to the influence of inflammatory factors like TNFα.
