Target Information
Metalloreductase STEAP3 is an integral membrane protein that acts as a NADPH-dependent ferric-chelate reductase, utilizing NADPH from one side of the membrane to reduce an Fe3+ chelate bound on the other side. Additionally, it can convert Cu2+ to Cu1+. STEAP3 may have a role downstream of p53/TP53, linking apoptosis with cell cycle progression. In mice, this protein is encoded by the Steap3 gene. STEAP3 has multiple functions in mice, including regulating iron metabolism, controlling inflammatory responses, managing red blood cell storage and oxidative damage, and participating in the occurrence and development of certain diseases.
