Target Information

Macrophage mannose receptor 1 facilitates the endocytosis of glycoproteins by macrophages and can bind both sulfated and non-sulfated polysaccharide chains. It serves as a phagocytic receptor for bacteria, fungi, and other pathogens. In mice, the macrophage mannose receptor (MR) plays significant roles in immune response, pathogen clearance, tissue repair, and influences the tumor microenvironment. MR can recognize and bind to mannose or N-acetylglucosamine residues on various pathogens' surfaces, mediating their phagocytosis. For instance, MR can bind to mannose-coated bacteria like Francisella tularensis and fungi such as Aspergillus fumigatus, promoting the endocytosis and elimination of these pathogens.
