Target Information
In mice, the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II DR Beta 1 (DRβ1) primarily functions in antigen presentation and immune regulation. MHC class II molecules are crucial components of the immune system, responsible for presenting processed exogenous antigens to T cells, thus initiating adaptive immune responses. These molecules are comprised of α and β chains, with DRβ1 being one of the β chains. DRβ1 pairs with α chains to form heterodimers that present antigenic peptides to CD4+ T cells. This antigen presentation is vital for the activation and differentiation of T cells. DRβ1 is significant in the development and progression of various diseases. For instance, in mouse models, defects in MHC class II molecules can result in impaired T cell function, consequently affecting immune responses.
