Target Information
In mice, the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II DQ Beta 1 primarily functions in antigen presentation and the regulation of immune responses. MHC class II molecules are responsible for presenting processed pathogen-derived peptides to CD4+ T cells, thereby triggering an immune response. The DQ Beta 1 chain, along with the DQ Alpha chain, forms the DQ antigen-presenting molecule. These molecules activate the immune system by presenting peptide antigens to T cells. Additionally, research indicates that the polymorphism of MHC class II molecules is closely linked to the development of autoimmune diseases. In mouse models, the expression of MHC class II molecules is influenced by various factors; for instance, TGF-beta 1 has been shown to regulate the expression of MHC class II genes, thus impacting immune responses.
