Target Information
Lysyl tRNA Synthetase facilitates the specific attachment of an amino acid to its corresponding tRNA through a two-step process: initially, the amino acid (AA) is activated by ATP to form AA-AMP, which is then transferred to the tRNA's acceptor end. When secreted, it functions as a signaling molecule that triggers an immune response by activating monocytes/macrophages. In yeast, lysyl-tRNA ligase comprises two catalytic domains responsible for adenylation and phosphorylation reactions, ultimately completing the tRNA linkage. In mouse models, the expression levels of lysyl-tRNA ligase can vary in response to infection or disease conditions. For instance, in the spleen cells of infected mice, its expression is significantly increased, suggesting its involvement in the immune response to infection.
