Mouse Lysyl Oxidase Like Protein 1 (LOXL1) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Lysyl oxidase homolog 1 (LOXL1) catalyzes the oxidative deamination of lysine and hydroxylysine residues in collagen and elastin, facilitating the formation of covalent cross-linkages that stabilize these fibers. This enzyme is crucial for maintaining elastic fiber homeostasis and ensuring their integrity into adulthood. LOXL1 plays diverse and vital roles in mice, including preserving eye structure and function, suppressing tumor progression, modulating fibrotic processes in the heart and liver, and supporting the stability of bone tissue and elastic fibers. Deficiency in LOXL1 results in significant alterations in the ultrastructure and biomechanical properties of the periocular sclera (PPS) in mice. These changes include a reduction in elastic fibers, an increase in collagen fiber diameter, and a disorganized arrangement of fibers, which collectively enhance the rigidity of the PPS and contribute to optic nerve enlargement.
