Target Information

Lymphotactin is a chemokine with chemotactic activity specifically for lymphocytes, but it does not attract monocytes or neutrophils. In the thymus, it facilitates the medullary accumulation of thymic dendritic cells and contributes to the development of regulatory T cells, thereby playing a crucial role in establishing self-tolerance. Lymphotactin (Lptn), a distinctive member of the C-type chemokine family, is predominantly found in mice and humans. Its primary function is to attract specific lymphocytes, such as T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, while it lacks attraction to monocytes and neutrophils. Lymphotactin is involved in a variety of immune responses; for instance, during acute transplant rejection, it enhances lymphocyte infiltration and the inflammatory response by attracting CD8+ T cells and NK cells.
