Target Information

Lymphocyte activation gene 3 (LAG-3) protein serves as an inhibitory receptor on antigen-activated T-cells, transmitting inhibitory signals when it binds to ligands like FGL1. FGL1 is a primary ligand for LAG3, playing a key role in its ability to inhibit T-cell activity. LAG-3 is essential for maintaining immune balance in mice by negatively regulating T cell expansion and activation. It is also involved in immunosuppression, tumor immune evasion, and various disease conditions. Research has demonstrated that mice lacking LAG-3 show excessive T cell expansion and lymphoproliferation, whereas introducing wild-type LAG-3 externally can reverse this expansion. Additionally, LAG-3 influences T cell homeostasis through mechanisms that depend on and are independent of regulatory T cells.
