Target Information
Hepatic triacylglycerol lipase is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of triglycerides and phospholipids in circulating plasma lipoproteins, including chylomicrons, intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL), large-sized low density lipoproteins (LDL), and high density lipoproteins (HDL). This process releases free fatty acids (FFA) and smaller lipoprotein particles. The enzyme also exhibits lysophospholipase activity. In mice, the Lipc gene is primarily expressed in the liver, with a distinct spatial distribution pattern during embryonic development. For instance, during early embryonic stages, the Lipc gene is predominantly expressed in the head region, whereas, in adulthood, its expression is mainly found in the liver.
