Target Information
Lipase member H specifically hydrolyzes phosphatidic acid (PA) to generate 2-acyl lysophosphatidic acid and fatty acid, without acting on other phospholipids such as phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), or triacylglycerol (TG). LIPH is broadly expressed across various tissues in mice, including the pancreas, intestine, stomach, placenta, prostate, and thyroid. Besides its role in lipid and energy metabolism, LIPH is significant in hair follicle cells via LPA signaling, with mutations linked to sparse hair and congenital hair abnormalities. In mouse models, research on LIPH primarily focuses on lipid metabolism and energy balance. For instance, LIPH overexpression can enhance hepatic lipogenesis and fatty acid uptake in white adipose tissue, contributing to fatty liver and obesity.
